In this study, thermogelation of methylcelluloses is investigated in relation to the molar mass and concentration in aqueous medium. A large hysteresis between heating and cooling ramps was observed whatever the conditions. The heating process in particular was studied to analyze the two steps of gelation using rheometry. At low temperature, in the sol state, viscosity depends on the concentration and molar mass. Over 30°C a gel-like behavior was observed including two steps (the second step is a strong gel with phase separation) having storage moduli that are nearly independent of polymer molar mass but are directly related to polymer concentration. 相似文献

Propolis is a bee product with several biological properties. This study aimed at investigating a propolis-containing mouthwash, its organoleptic properties, microbial contamination and its antibacterial action in vitro. This mouthwash was assessed in vivo to control dental plaque in humans. The presence of microorganisms was analyzed and the minimum inhibitory concentration against Streptococcus mutans was determined. A comparative study was done in vivo using propolis, chlorhexidine, and propolis plus chlorhexidine in lower concentrations for 14 days. Dental plaque was analyzed by the Patient Hygiene Performance (PHP) index. The odontological product was yellow, cloudy, free of microbial contamination, and exerted an inhibitory action in vitro. Individuals who used a propolis-containing mouthwash for 14 consecutive days in combination or not to chlorhexidine showed a similar PHP index to chlorhexidine alone. The product exerted an antibacterial action in vitro and in vivo, exhibiting a positive action in the control of dental plaque. 相似文献

Biosensors have witnessed an escalating interest nowadays, both in the research and commercial fields. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) biosensors (genosensors) have been exploited for their inherent physico-chemical stability and suitability to discriminate different organism strains. The main principle of detection among genosensors relies on specific DNA hybridization, directly on the surface of a physical transducer. This review covers the main DNA immobilization techniques reported so far, new micro- and nanotechnological platforms for biosensing and the transduction mechanisms in genosensors. Clinical applications, in particular, demand large-scale and decentralized DNA testing. New schemes for DNA diagnosis include DNA chips and microfluidics, which couples DNA detection with sample pretreatment under in vivo-like hybridization conditions. Higher sensitivity and specificity may arise from nanoengineered structures, like carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and DNA/protein conjugates. A new platform for universal DNA biosensing is also presented, and its implications for the future of molecular diagnosis are argued. 相似文献

Electrospray ionization-ion trap mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) of imidazolidin-4-one peptidomimetic derivatives of the antimalarial
drug primaquine (PQ) is reported. These compounds contain the imidazolidin-4-one moiety either at the N- or the C-terminal of a dipeptide backbone, thus respectively mimicking PQ-Amino Acid-Proline (PQAAPro) and PQProAA derivatives of
PQ. Both the peptidomimetics and precursors previously developed by us are promising drug candidates, as they were found to
be active against rodent Plasmodium berghei malaria and Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia. Collision-induced dissociation (CID) and tandem-mass spectra (MS) of the title compounds, and fragmentation pathways
thereof, led to the following findings: (1) CID patterns present some parallelism with the reactivity towards hydrolysis previously
found for the same or related compounds; (2) a positional shift of the imidazolidin-4-one ring is reflected on both degree
and pathways of fragmentation, which makes tandem-MS a key tool for differentiation of imidazolidin-4-one isomers; (3) the
major MS/MS fragmentation of PQProAA mimetics involves release of a neutral diketopiperazine (DKP), in parallel to the “diketopiperazine
pathway” described in tandem-MS studies of oligopeptides; (4) the relative abundance of a major fragment in tandem-MS spectra
is inversely correlated with the size of the N-terminal AA in PQProAA mimetics. Overall, this work embodies an original and valuable contribution towards a deeper insight
into the molecular properties of novel antimalarials, which can be viewed as representative of both the 8-aminoquinoline and,

The spinel-type ferrites NiFe2O4 and Zn0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 modified by lanthanide ions Eu3+ and Tb3+ were prepared by a sol—gel process with propylene oxide as a gelating agent. The phase homogeneity of the samples was tested by XRD and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Transmission electronic microscopy used for characterisation of the morphology of the samples revealed nanosized powdered samples with a narrow distribution of particle sizes. It was noted that the presence of Ln3+ ions influenced the magnetic properties of nanosized NiFe2O4 and Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 ferrites. The dependence of the magnetic properties of the samples on the rare-earth doping may be explained by the different grain sizes. The saturation magnetisation tends to decrease with increasing rare-earth doping and decreasing crystallite size. A similar trend was observed for the coercive field, with the exception of the Tb3+-doped Zn0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 where it remained the same as in the pure ferrite. 相似文献

Odorous organic compounds from liquid and gas samples of animal wastes were studied by headspace (HS)-solid-phase microextraction (SPME)-GC-MS. 1-Pirenyldiazomethane (PDAM) was adsorbed/absorbed on the SPME fibre in order to obtain the corresponding ester derivatives during the preconcentration step. The SPME fibre was immersed into a PDAM solution. Then, the SPME fibre was withdrawn and exposed to the HS of the liquid cow slurry. This way derivatisation of VFAs took place in the SPME fibre together with the preconcentration of the rest of the analytes of interest. The analytes were desorbed in the hot injection port (300 degrees C) of a GC-MS for 3 min. Four different fibre types and different immersion periods of the fibre in the PDAM solution were studied in order to obtain the best sensitivity with the selected fibre. Accuracy, precision and the LODs were calculated using spiked liquid and gas samples. The possibility of storing liquid samples after sampling by preconcentration on the fibre was also considered. Storage time and temperature were studied. The optimised method was applied to the determination of the analytes in liquid and gas samples from cow slurries from an intensive production farm. 相似文献
